As the school's inaugural staff member and school leader, Amy is heading up the school planning process during the 2019-2020 academic year. When Anthony Acres opens it doors in September 2020, Amy will serve as administrator of the school and also be a member of the teaching staff.
Amy Traynor has devoted 20 years to public education, 17 years as a middle school mathematics educator and 3 years as an Instructional Coach at DeLong Middle School in Eau Claire, WI. Amy currently serves as a WI Commissioner for the Education Commissions of the States, President of the WI Teacher of the Year Network and Teacher Lead for Wisconsin’s Every Teacher a Leader Summit.
Amy is a National Board Certified Teacher of Mathematics, the 2013 WI Middle School Teacher of the Year and a 2015 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Finalist. Amy graduated from UWSP with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education. She received her Master’s in Education from UW-L and her Principal and Curriculum Director certifications through WiscAd.
Outside of school Amy likes to travel, spend time with her family, and tend to her bees. Amy resides on the west side of Eau Claire with her husband, Jeremy, who is an amazing Science teacher and their 3 sons – Derek (22), Gavin (17), and Landon (14).
